I’ve called Washington, DC my home now for over 5 years. I’ve never worked in politics, furthermore I have no aspirations to. DC is 3 hours away from where my parents live and 30 miles away from the college I went to. It has been the home to countless high school, college, and coworker friends. DC is one of my absolute favorite cities – it’s a comfortable size, there’s stunning architecture, and it’s clean. There’s a distinct DC culture from the people who grew up here, and there’s the transplants that move here for career aspirations that have added a whole other culture.
The Capitol
There’s so much more than Capitol Hill and the White House, although it’s often not portrayed that way on the news or in TV shows. There are prestigious universities, stunning parks, world renowned restaurants, fantastically awful dive bars, and countless activities. Although DC is one of the most expensive cities in the country, you can at least make sure that what you’re spending your money on is worth it. Check out some of the articles below to get a peek into my tenure in DC and find something fun to do while you’re in the nation’s capital.
